Naturetone Symposia
The Renaissance of the microtonal music, in particular, in the United States, France, Germany, and Austria, together with the aspiration for pure and, above all, novel sounds, and the quest for their harmonic interrelations, based on newest results in the basic musical research, brought together musicians, composers, and musicologist at the Naturetone Symposia in Heidelberg / Germany. The initiative came from Martin Münch, Heidelberg, und Johannes Kotschy,Salzburg, Austria; they organized the first Naturetone Symposia in 1989 and 1992, with the co-operation of the Jahrhundertwende-Gesellschaft Heidelberg and the Deutsch-Amerikanisches Institut Heidelberg. On three consecutive days, the research results were presented, composition techniques were discussed, and new compositions based on the principles of naturetone theory were performed. These principles were imparted in a seminar for beginners, led by Aurel Stroé and Johannes Kotschy.
