Louis Aguirre
Biography
Louis Aguirre, composer and conductor. Born in in Camagüey, Cuba. He studied composition with Harold Gramatges, Roberto Valera and Tulio Peramo (till 1991), as well as violin and conducting at the Havana Superior Institute of Arts. Postgraduate composition studies at the Amsterdam Conservatory, Netherlands (2002-04) with R. Reina, and at the Århus Royal Conservatory, Denmark (2004-05) with Karl Aage Rasmussen and Rolf Wallin. 1995-2002 chief conductor and artistic director of the Camagüey Symphony Orchestra and professor at the Camaguey Music Conservatory. 1996-2002 artistic director and chairman of the “International Festival of Contemporary Music” in Camagüey. Since 2002, he lives in Europe as a freelance composer.
