The International Ekmelic Music Society organized four international symposia, on initiative of Franz Richter Herf with the co-operation of the Mozarteum Academy Salzburg. They were held from 1985 thru 1991 every second year; in 1985 and 1987, directed by Franz Richter Herf; in 1989 and 1991, directed by Prof. Horst-Peter Hesse. For each symposium, a book including all lectures has been published.
